Lawn Care, The Easy Way© Reginald Vickers
Lawn Care, The Easy Life
If you read my article last week, you found out that I get along in the outdoors about as well as Jeff Gordon in a traffic jam. This past Saturday I decided to attempt something that had only been a dream up to now. I was going to work in the yard all day long. Friday night I made arrangements by calling the hospital to let them know they might expect a visit from me the next day. Yet amazingly, when Saturday night came, I didn't even have a scratch. I called them back Saturday after the yard work was complete to let them know I was OK. I thought I heard crying on the other line. Then another person's voice came on the line and said something about how the staff would not be getting the raise they were promised. Then they hung up. I spent the day Saturday cleaning up the yard and burning brush. The only problem I encountered was a little fire. My neighbor had said that he wanted to clear those 20 acres anyway so I didn't think it was such a big deal. I hope that when he gets back from Florida, he appreciates all I did for him. You see, I thought that I had it all under control- hose, bucket, shovel, and marshmallows. By midnight, the fire hadn't quite finished burning out. I sprayed it down until all the steam filled the sky like fog coming off the French Broad River. By the time I was done it was pitch black. Since a big rainstorm was coming this way, I went to bed without a care in the world. I was safe, healthy, and no one was hurt. I accomplished something I had tried for the past 4 years, a safe day outdoors. I'm not sure what woke me up first, the dog barking, the bird screaming, the fire trucks, or the neighbors yelling, "It's that Reginald again!" The rain didn't come but the wind did. Fire sure can spread when there is a wind behind it. When I called 9-1-1 they sent an ambulance at first, expecting that I was hurt. I sure surprised them when they realized they needed a fire truck instead. After a couple of days, the fire was contained. Boy, was my face red. Safe yard work is not only knowing what to do (and what not to do) but also having the right tools. Here on the Internet, these tools can be yours with just a few clicks. Below are the links you will need to find and purchase the right equipment for your lawn and landscaping needs. Go To Page: 1 2
