I've Finished My Shopping and It's Not Even Christmas

There are three types of Christmas Shoppers: 1) Early-"Since we have Christmas Day off, let's take the family and go shopping for next year's gifts!"; 2) Bargain Hunter- "I found this great deal on The Melting Frosty Doll at the Labor Day Sale"; 3) Late- "Honey! Wake up! I forgot to get Benji that Exploding Cabbage Patch Doll he wanted!" You would think that I, the "Bargain Bloodhound", would look for deals throughout the year. Nope, you're wrong. There's no challenge in that. The challenge comes when you get to Wal-Mart at 11:45pm on Christmas Eve and it closes at midnight. Even though you had 15 people on your Christmas list, now there are still 12 left. Now that's a challenge! And judging by the crowds I ain't alone in this planning.

Well, this year is going to be different. (I know I say that every year.) I have already started my shopping spree thanks to the Internet. The more I buy, the more I realize how fun it is to buy on the Net. You can find the coolest stuff right here in the midst of your home (or office) including hard to find items at prices you can't beat. So get out the credit card and come along with me on a journey that even Santa can appreciate.

For the next few weeks we will learn about Christmas shopping. Today we will focus on the basics. Next week, we will look at buying toys. Then how to buy for him. Last, and most importantly, we will learn how to buy for her.

Internet Christmas Shopping 101
One night, while everyone has gone to bed, you turn your computer on to go shopping for a toy for your 4-year-old walking one-man (son) demolition team. With credit card in hand, you connect to the Internet. You begin thinking that you don't want just any gift but one that would be perfect for this miniature Godzilla. You stare at the screen and begin to wonder "Now What?!"

Start out at The Perfect Present Picker. Here you don't have to know what you're looking for. This site will ask you a couple of questions to help determine what will be the best gift for that special someone. It will ask you the person's interest, the occasion, their personality, Sex/Age, Occupation, and Lifestyle. For the 4 year old juvenile delinquent that we selected as our guinea pig, we enter "toys/games", "Christmas", "difficult and needs brain implant", "male 03 to 06", "being a child" and "family and children" to match our choices. We hit "Results" and we get: UFO Kit from AlbertE Toy Store, Little Bear Puppet from Someday Isle, and Western Luggage for the Little Buck-a-roo from Vintage 5 Classic Gifts for Kids along with hundreds of other selections. The matches give you the company that sells the item, a slight description of the product, and how much it will cost. The Perfect Present Picker should be used for everyone on your Christmas shopping list and even those who are not- it's fun to see what gifts it select. This is great for the Decision-Making Challenged.
