An increasing number of sites are using more and more images and fancy tricks to woo the customer. Unless images enhance the shopping experience then leave them off. You've got minimal time to capture the attention and keep it. "Go ahead waste my time."

Well this shouldn't be a mystery to e-tailers. Give customers what they want and you will have a better chance of getting what you want. You want them to return again and again to buy what you sell or hear what you have to say etc. The bottom line is you want them back! You want to know that it's okay to contact them if you have something of interest. You want to know that they trust you with their information. You want them to see you as the solution to their specific problems or new opportunities.

Many online stores are adopting the technique of one click to buy [Amazon.com for example]. This is great because as a return shopper I want to buzz in and buzz out with my items. Here's how it works - Your billing info which you so kindly handed over at the checkout counter on your first purchase is kept on file within a database. When you return to make another purchase, you won't have to fill out those long forms but simply click on a button and it's all done for you. In the words of Emerill Live - "BAM is all done." You just click once and it's done for you.

Browse other e-commerce sites to see what others are doing. Try Amazon, MegaDepot.com or Chapters.ca. Use what you think has worked for them to your advantage.

If you can't get them to stick to your site, try something that makes your site stick to them.
