Openness to Change and Aging--A Contradiction of Terms?

A person doesn't have to at an advanced age to be resistant to change, but there is more of a tendency to stand still as the years add up. Some people erroneously think that they have found perfection in their lives thus they have no need for change; other people lose the motivation to make changes or to be part of change for one reason or another. Young or old, "perfect" or unmotivated--it matters not--those people have little resiliency in life, or for life.

Change isn't always easy or apparent, but you can count on it as surely as the sun rising and falling each day. Most everyone has some difficulty with change now and then, but in the end, it is a person's underlying attitude about the subject that makes all the difference.

"It is a mistake to regard age as a downhill grade toward dissolution. The reverse is true. As one grows older one climbs with surprising strides." -- George Sand
