Using Metaphors to CopeI am in the process of using the same metaphorical imagery in order to deal with the tragedies happening around me. My personal life, similar to thousands of other Americans, has become a stressful one full of grief and sadness. While many heartaches are happening all at once, I will use the symbolism that streams through in the coming days and apply them to my paintings. In time, my self expression will heal my wounds, and explain to the world what a disaster this last week has been to Americans. If you find yourself overwhelmed to the level that you find it impossible to paint your distress over the recent tragedies that have fallen upon our great nation, then please try metaphors. You may find that leaving out your literal thoughts and focusing more indirectly through metaphors might make way for the expression to flow freely.
