Whatcha gonna get?
In case you've been living in a box for the past few weeks, allow me to inform you of an important upcoming event: Valentines Day is February 14. Yes, same as last year. And the year before that.

If you're involved with a significant other, trust me, it would be prudent to make some gesture--you decide how grand--to mark this traditionally romantic day. In the interest of saving you some time, and possibly, saving your relationship (you can thank me later) I've collected a few ideas below. Just remember, timing is everything. A February 15th gift just doesn't say, "Happy Valentine's Day." (What it says: "Whooops, I'm in trouble now.")

AHHhhhhhh...That Feels Good
Spa gift certificates say, "I want to pamper you." If you're in the northern half of Ohio, consider giving your sweetie a spa treatment at Mario's International. Mario's has five locations in the Greater Cleveland/Akron area and they've been recognized regionally and nationally by Conde' Nast Traveler, Allure, SELF, Cleveland Magazine, Pittsburgh Magazine, and Midwest Travel. Cleveland & Akron Family Health even named Mario's 'Ohio's Best Spa.' You can get gift certificates at any location or buy online at http://www.marios-spa.com/

No Whining
Wine makes a good gift, and it's one you and your significant other can enjoy together. According to the Ohio Wine Producers Association, the history of winemaking in Ohio can be traced back to Nicholas Longworth, a lawyer in the Cincinnati area, who planted the first Catawba grapes in 1820. Ohioans got a taste for the stuff quickly; by 1845 the annual production was over 300,000 gallons. By 1860, Ohio led the nation in the production of wine. New wineries have opened throughout Ohio in recent years; the old ones continue to thrive. Surely you can find a few bottles, and enjoy a romantic tasting for two. GO BUCKS!
If your lover is in love with the Ohio State Buckeyes, go to http://www.hangonsloopy.com/ and shop the Official Team Store of the Ohio State Buckeyes. Yes, they even have red undies. If that's what you like...

Getaway (together)
Some of the best getaways are close to home. The Ohio State Parks offer weekend packages to suit many tastes--from romantic suites to golf getaways for two. Check out current rates and special packages at http://www.atapark.com/packages/013A_pac... or call the Ohio State Park Reservation Center at 1-800-282-7275.

Everybody Loves Chocolate
Well, almost everyone. Consider Ohio-made treats from Malleys (http://www.malleys.com/) or London's Candies (http://www.londoncandies.com/). You can order online from both stores, or find a store near you and shop in person--they do a wonderful job of gift wrapping!
