Family Circle Magazine recently featured the Cohen family of Columbus, aka "the Amazing Garbage-Free Family." The Cohens are doing their part to save the planet, and saving money too. How? The Cohens do those smart, sensible things we all intend to do but don't get into the habit of actually doing. For example, the Cohen family - replaced all their indoor lights with fluorescent lights that last a lot longer and use a lot less energy than regular bulbs - combine "errand" trips into a single trip, and use public transportation regularly - run the dish- and clothes-washers only when they are full - replaced showerheads with "low-flow" heads, and - - shop locally, for locally-grown foods. The magazine calls the plastic-and-fiberglass system the "remodeling equivalent of a Lego set."
