The National Inventors Hall of Fame, known as Inventure Place, is located in downtown Akron. The museum is dedicated to inspiring adults and children to think creatively. To that end, it offers the 20,000 sq. ft. interactive exhibit area called Inventors Workshop.
The workshop is filled with hands-on exhibits. Here, you can make your own movie, laser show, or magnet sculpture; you can make music on pipes - just by walking by them! - and you can experiment with redirecting water flow, as long as you don't mind getting a little bit damp. The hands-on workshop is extended by a woodshop and crafting area. Donations from local businesses contribute to the eclectic variety of materials visitors can employ to create their own inventions - and yes, you can take your creation home. The Hall of Fame itself is located in a multi-level loft area, overlooking the interactive floor. The National Inventors Hall of Fame does much programmatic outreach to schools, through educator workshops, creativity training for corporations, and educational product development. Admission Prices range from $6.00 - $7.50. Prices are subject to change; group rates are available. Call (330) 849-6872 for details. Can't get there in person?
