Have you ever looked for yourself on the Internet? Interesting finds. I typed in "OCD and Cherry" on Yahoo.com. There were 328 references! I found references to myself, my website and my book, The OCD Workbook. Then I found several sites that have links to my website or my book. Of course a lot of the websites had to do with Cherry Coke, Cherry 7 Up, chocolate covered cherries, cherry blossoms, cherry trees, something called cherry eye, Cherry Lane, Cherry Point, and other people named Cherry. And did you know that OCD can stand for osteochondritis dissecans, Order of Discalced Carmelites?
On the website, Again and Again, at http://www.interlog.com/~calex/ocd/ -- I found my website and my book referred to. Then I found myself in the humor section! How did I get into the humor section? My 18 year old son said I was not funny. It was a quote from the OCD-L email list and here it is:
"'I am going to the Orlando [OCD] conference. I went to the one in San Jose. I wonder if the hotel people have complained about us after we left town. Can you imagine the water bill with all the showers? Or the extra toilet paper and soap? Do they get extra questions and little reminders about needed repairs from us checkers? They might like some of us though, if we obsessively clean or tidy up the lobby.' (Cherry Pedrick in an OCD-L posting.)"
Well, I guess my son is wrong, I am funny. This is a great site with lots of information and links. It has references and links to articles, books, papers, bulletin boards, chat rooms, mailing lists, news groups, doctors, clinics, personal web pages and organizations that deal with OCD. There are sections on religion, entertainment, humor, inspiration, music, and treatment. Even a link to a very funny Frank and Ernest cartoon.
I guess I am in the mood for humor today because I especially enjoyed the Humor section. You will find links to:
The Ask Fluffy Archives - http://members.tripod.com/~joker49/flufa... - a hilarious question and answer website by and for pets. One of the questions concerned the treatment of Feline OCD with Purrzac.
Digits - http://www-personal.umich.edu/~brinck/di... - You can look up your favorite numbers.
Mensans and Their Obsessions - http://www.rain.org/~hutch/obsessive.html - Supposedly highly intelligent people get together and compare their symptoms; from coping with round waffles to turning upside-down cakes right-side up. Interesting and funny.
