The Obsessive Compulsive and Spectrum Disorders Association (OCSDA) of California will be holding its annual conference May 7 to 9, 1998, at the Hilton Universal City and Towers, Universal City, California. The theme is "The Many Faces of OCD." This conference offers valuable information for everyone concerned with obsessive-compulsive disorder - individuals with the disorder, family, mental health professionals, educators, even kids.
Five programs will be presented, each tailored to a specific audience: Ian Osborn, M.D., author of Tormenting Thoughts and Secret Rituals, is the keynote speaker. Other speakers include Sanjaya Saxena, M.D., Stephen Mayberg, Ph.D., John Walkup, M.D., Rhonda Britten, and Leon Patillo. Topics
OCD spectrum disorders Extras If learning more about OCD and meeting a bunch of neat people who also have OCD isn't enough, the entertainment will convince you this is the place to be in May. An optional dinner at the Marvel Mania restaurant on Universal's City Walk is planned for Saturday night, followed by a private ride on Universal Studio's "Back to the Future" ride. The conference ends with a special "Mother's Day Tribute in Concert" with Pastor Leon Patillo. Or stay for an optional Mother's Day Brunch. Find out more about the OCSDA conference at their web site at http://www.ocdhelp.org/conference99/inde.... Personal Experience at OCD Conferences I am not connected with the OCSDA. I'm not even from California, but after hearing wonderful things the last couple years, I do plan to attend the conference for the first time this year. I'll share some of the things I learn right here next month. I have attended two Obsessive Compulsive Foundation (OCF) conferences. The OCF is a national organization that provides advocacy and education about OCD. These conferences helped me understand a very confusing illness. Meeting others with OCD gave me hope for recovery. This year the national OCF conference will be in Washington, D.C. in July. I'll be there and I'll tell you more about that conference later.
