an extra bedroom or space you can decorate for your grandchild to call their own room? Placing a crib, or daybed with rails, toy storage and play rug can create a wonderland for your grandchild. If you do not have an extra room, find a traffic free area in the central living area and create a smaller space for your grandchild to play and nap. Travel playpens are great for naps and a full size sheet placed on the floor can be a safe haven for little ones to play. Easy cleanup for you, just fold up the sheet corners and empty the toys in the playpen until the next day. A painted trunk can be used to store toys, blankets, etc. The top surface can be used as table for meals or activity play.

Maybe full time child care is not best for you and your grandchild, so consider part time for the days regular day care is closed or when your grandchild is ill and can not attend regular school or daycare. Another possibility is shared child care with another relative or day care provider. No matter what child care option you as a grandparent provide, remember it is another valuable chance to bond and nurture your grand relationship. All the love and care you provide will be bright reflection in your grandchild's future.
