NT News Tidbits

There is a new freeware utility for playing with (and testing) these settings, however: iSpeed. It's a nice-looking applet, and if you're interested in playing around with the various TCP/IP settings, give it a try.

MS Newsletters

Many "news tidbits", and lists of new Knowledge Base articles (by product), can be had by signing up for some of the newsletters that Microsoft sends out. First-time registration at Microsoft's site includes giving out personal information and filling out a survey, but then allows you to use the Knowledge Base, and to sign up for any number of newletters you choose. If you've already registered, you can change your subscription information using the Personal Information Center.

For NT bugs and patches, be sure to select the Backoffice Support News Watch newsletter (just listed as "BackOffice" under the sub-heading "Microsoft Technical Support News Watch"), which covers Windows NT. The latest issue, dated September 7, 1998, includes 5 new Knowledge Base articles, including Defragmentation Application Hangs.

Also under that category, you might want to select Windows and Internet Explorer. Since each newsletter is divided into sub-categories, you'll be able to scroll down to the IE4 section and see all the latest Knowledge Base articles about IE4.

In a category all by itself, Windows NT Platform News will tell you about special NT news, but they're more like Microsoft Press Releases.
