From The Womb Of Honor To The Grave Of DerisionGeneration Ground Zero: World War II came upon the Earth in an eight year flash. With the depressions, the humiliations, the instabilities of politics, the cry for nationality among anarchy, the cry for equality, the lust for power, and the causes of prejudices all mounting up in one giant segmented tart of violence. The civilizations of the world were crashing all around humanity. However, along with all these problems there was still a communal stance on right and wrong. A determination to be better than the current situations presented humankind. It was one huge omelet, and breaking eggs became a work in progress. With the rise of Socialism, Fascism, and Communism engulfing European and Asian nations, the heart of freedom was being strangled by the economic harms of World War I. Nevertheless there was still one last vestige of mankind who, within all the austerity of the times, stood upon a hill and in their rags challenged the growing tyranny. They were my grandparents, and their parents. This generation suffered through, and endured, a depression and two world wars. They deserve every ounce of respect a man or woman could bestow. Today their lives are in completion. This generation, which defined the modern technological society of today's global communication, is fading into history and eternal honor. It is a shame that the three generations they gave birth to is taking that protection, and like a spoiled child leading the world into a era of futility and decadence. Generation Baby-Blunders: The children who followed these warriors, these heroes, these people with a reasonable sense of life, started fairly soundly. A great deal of them were already in the world during the war. In retrospect, it now seems those who traveled the road of time through the 50's and 60's, who were born during the war, had a better grasp on what life is. I suppose one could give some credence to a sense of over-protectiveness by the World War II generation of their children. It is understandable that parent's who had seen the horrors of war and depression, would do all in their power to shelter their children from the same. So, in the beginning, my parent's generation set out on a path of sound improvement. However, in the end it was not to be. With Communism - the last vestige of tyranny remaining in the world - moving into a ravished Europe and Asia, such scenes of violent conflict unfolded in Vietnam, Korea, as well as Eastern Europe, leading to a folly, which has haunted the American Republic for more than half a century. An almost complete mental break down took place within the American spirit. World War II's children did not want to interrupt their comforts any more. The United States began to move into internal conflict, a mental-civil war over the reasons mankind goes to war.
