Norwegian Language Resources Online

It's not that Norwegian language resources aren't out there - they just take a little time to find and sort through. For those of you who are learning or teaching Norwegian, it can be frustrating to spend hours sorting through sites for language exercises, tips, or materials. I've laid out a few below to help you out with your search.

One very simple way to find information is to just dive in at http://www.sol.no . This is a Norwegian search engine where you can find just about anything. You can even play on-line computer games and send Norwegian e-greeting cards to your friends.

Teaching Organizations
Teaching organizations can be a good gateway to language instruction. They offer information on language programs, pedagogical tips, and often provide other handy resources.

Audio-Cassettes and Courses
On the practical side, it's nice to have a guide for navigating learning units and tricky pronunciation. Here are a few resources for learning how to actually speak and understand the language.

Learn to speak Norwegian - self-study course.

Sons of Norway

Software
Interactive software can also be a fun way to learn a language. The benefit to this is that it is self-paced and can give you the feedback that a book or audiocassette simply can't.

Learn basic Norwegian with an interactive CD rom.

Norwegian software

Free On-line Audio Clips
Listening exercises can be very useful for improving upon what has already been learned. They can also be wonderful for their ability to expand understanding of various dialectical and prosodic elements.

Norwaves
