A note to remember: Use plant-safe materials to paint any wood that is not naturally rot proof as cedar and redwood are. Ask at a good paint center and they should be able to tell you which products are non-toxic to plants as well as people.

If you don't live close enough to the Twin Cities to use this wonderful resource, clean out your garage, attic, or basement and see what items you can give new lives to instead of sending out with the garbage. Once you start thinking like this, you won't ever look at old stuff the same way again. At every rummage sale and flea market, you'll find yourself thinking about what you could do with various things you see. Who knows? Maybe Earth Day will become your favorite holiday!
