Here are five pieces of trivia. Each is about a Canadian or American author. See if you can guess who they are:

1) She was born in Ottawa, Ontario on November 18th, 1939. She was the Writer-In-Residence at the University of Toronto from 1972 to 73.

2) This Canadian author (a historian) was born in 1920 in Whitehorse, Yukon. His first book was Klondike, which was themed on the Yukon gold rush that made his hometown famous.

3) He was born on January 19th, 1809 in Boston, Mass. His father's name was David and his mother's was Elizabeth. He was expelled form the University of Virginia in 1826 for not paying his gambling debts.

4) He was born on September 21st, 1947 in the province of Maine. His middle name is Edwin. He is the only natural born child - his older brother was adopted at birth two years earlier.

5) He was born in January of 1876 in San Francisco. His left-wing philosophy shows in a novel he published in 1908.
