Crossing Canada - Part X1

We three went down to the inner harbour where I put my feet in the Pacific Ocean for the first time - that was a laugh.

Me stumbling over the small rocks to get to the water, with the other two holding me on each side. I still couldn't move around well - bones were still sore from the train ride.

Nicole pointed out some small stones with white stripes through them. I pocketed a couple to take home- she told me to bury them, then take them out a year from then and make wishes on them.

(I think I gave one away - the other is buried in one of our pothos plants.)

I had a hard time moving around - my legs weren't in great shape.

Actually, I did get better - I ended up in better shape out there than I ever was - the exercise was good for me.

We wandered around down by the old Empress Hotel.

-----------------

Then Nicole had a special surprise for us - a ballet!

Dev and Nicole can tell this better than I - but here's the gist of it. Victoria people are trying to get a ballet going for Victoria. This was a rehearsal of the ballet - Peter Pan. Nicole is working for them as a volunteer. Also, Colin from Men Without Hats (a band) was there as a volunteer on sound. I took his picture and said 'Hey! You're wearing a hat! What's going on?'

The ballet was fun - I'm not a ballet fan, but it was nice. The dancers were fascinating.

I also went outside the building for my smokes - photographed a big old tree out there - I liked that tree. Walked around it several times, touching it.

I think I was really out there just to enjoy the air - the air is so clean out there.

----------------

After the ballet rehearsal, we piled back into the car Nicole had loaned to her, especially for the purpose of my visit and headed for Hunan Village on Fisgar Street, where we fed on some very good Chinese food.

Then home to Dev & Terry's place where I spent the night. I took a much looked forward to shower and we all turned in.

I slept like a top under comfy quilts, in the company of three gorgeous cats.
