The early reports from people who were drafted by Reznor to work on the album with him this time around have been glowing about the parts of the material they've heard. Reznor seems to have no trouble impressing his peers with his musical skills when they observe him in action. That includes the talented likes of premier guitarist Adrian Belew, Mike Garson (David Bowie pianist), and Ministry drummer William Rieflin.
The descriptions of the material haven't been exactly revealing though as far as telling a NIN fan what to expect this time around. Hip-hop? Jesus and Mary Chain distortions? Classical music influences? Reznor himself has said he thinks it's his best album yet, but typically enough, he's not sure how it will be received.
Whatever the reason for the delays, NINian hopes were raised higher this week with a new article in Rolling Stone magazine where song titles were actually named and we were treated to a brief and tempting look into an actual work session in the winding down weeks of labor on the new double CD album release, "The Fragile."
Some of the titles named: "Into the Void", "La Mer", "We're In This Together", "The Day the World Went Away" and "The Wretched".
Speculation was highest about one of the B side song titles, reported to be "Starfucker, Inc." Do we sense a little sarcasm here Trent? Just the slightest bit of venom? We hope so. We wouldn't be NIN fans if we didn't.
