Martin Phillipps formed the Chills in Dunedin in the late '70s.
Since then the band has been through more than 14 line-up changes but two very important factors remain constant: the presence of Martin and his extraordinary songwriting ability.
The Chills are on Flying Nun Records and over the years have released such classic Kiwi pop songs as "I Love My Leather Jacket" and "Heavenly Pop Hit." The band's last album was Sunburnt in 1996 and Chills fans eagerly await the next album, which is on hold due to departure of the band's immediate past line-up. The news on the Martin Phillipps and the Chills Infomation Center states that at the moment Martin is concentrating on setting up his home studio, but work on the new record will start once the studio is complete.
