During the early eighties, Enz were constantly touring through North America, Europe, and Australasia. Tim remembers: "Endless memories of amazing gigs. Iggy Pop walking backstage in Buffalo and calling us the future of rock and roll." 1980-82 was a busy time for the band, culminating in the ,Time and Tide album. But after so many years together, it is understandable they wanted to go their own way. Tim recorded the successful solo album, Escapade. Eddie takes up the story "I think we started to get a bit jaded, we got a bit sick of a lot of Tim's songs at that point. So Tim went off to do his thing." After Conflicting Emotions Tim announced early in 1984 that he was leaving. Neil and the rest recorded one more album, See Ya Around. A farewell tour was embarked on through Australasia with Tim back on board. Split Enz had reached the Enz of An Era. For all the guys that were in Enz, they will look back on their time with affection. When Tim Finn was asked what he was most proud of from his career, he had one thing to say- "the songs."
