I found an old Metro article about Supergroove and it had your mother commenting that she was afraid you'd knock out your teeth with your sax because you were jumping around so much! That's all ancient history, but what was it like growing up in a rock band? "It was fantastic. It was great. You'd roll into a town and because there were 7 band members, a road crew, support band, it was like this roving party caravan. You'd turn up in any town whether it was in Australia, New Zealand, Germany or whatever and already you'd have a posse. If you imagine most of the little bars or places you go into in this country, if you have 20 people go into them, you've got a party. And I guess what I learnt with Supergroove is that you can do anything. If you know where you're going, all you have to do is get there." What about people who say the media is needed for a band to succeed? Didn't Supergroove prove them wrong? "The media I think to a large extent is largely irrelevant to the New Zealand music industry, as much as it would like to think it's the only thing about the music industry, it's irrelevant and I think a band like Supergroove proved that.
