Way off the beaten path and only for those who have visited New York more than once and are looking for something completely different: Le Refuge Inn Bed and Breakfast in the Bronx is set in a pleasant old sea captain's house on the main strip of City Island. Run by Pierre Saint-Denis, Le Refuge is in the far reaches of the Bronx, just beyond Pelham Bay Park and surrounded by the waters of the Long Island Sound and Eastchester Bay. M. Saint-Denis is also the proprietor of the delightful Le Refuge restaurant on the Upper East Side. Le Refuge Inn can be reached by public transportation, take the #6 train north to Pelham Bay Park, which is the last stop. Transfer to City Bus BX 29 towards City Island. There are nine rooms most of which share a bathroom, except for the suites. Each room is equipped with air conditioning and TV Phones are the in suites only and a refrigerator is available on request. There is even a restaurant in this bed and breakfast. Rooms range from $65 for a single to $140 for a suite.
