Discount Shopping in New York City

se few streets. On 17th alone there is the 17 @ 17, Angel Street Thrift Shop and Housing Works Thrift Shop. Out of Our Closet is on 18th, and a very interesting one called Fan Fare, on 19th between 5th and 6th, is chock full of old theater wardrobes.
If you are willing to trek to the now hip Williamsburg, Brooklyn you have to make a stop at Domsey Warehouse Outlet, which has over 30,000 square feet of selling space. Everything is offered here from military gear to formal wear at a fraction of what you would pay elsewhere.
Back in New York
Canal Jeans (though not a thrift store per say)does have a huge thrift section in its basement where the army and navy and shoe sections also happen to be. Also, if there is a sale in this five-floor warehouse — full of everything from messenger bags to T-shirts to Todd Oldham designer threads — you’ll definitely find a deal.
Discount Stores
Another thing New York has going for it is the slew of discount merchandisers up and down every street. Century 21 is considered "New York’s Best Kept Secret" offering over 15 departments of quality and designer merchandise at 25 percent to 75 percent off retail prices. Choose from the finest selection of European and American designer men’s, women’s and children’s clothing, not to mention shoes, lingerie, linens, cosmetics, handbags, luggage, housewares and electronics. I know people who drive from Baltimore just to shop here.
Every women in America knows about Strawberry’s. If they don't, they definitely should! This seller of popularly priced women's apparel has been a Big Apple fashion institute since 1932. Strawberry stores offer full lines of junior and young miss clothing, plus large selections of accessories and shoes. Strawberry’s undeniable appeal to the metro woman results from the savvy buying of cool, affordable fashions — fashions that change on the store floor everyday.
