What is a ley line, anyway? Is that what you stand in at the Honolulu Airport? And isn't a vortex a big sucky hole, like a huge flushing toilet? What's so spiritual about THAT? New Agers will tell you that there are special places in the world where magnetic energies converge and the earthly meets the ethereal. (I thought that was San Francisco...) Sedona, Arizona is one such place. Famous for its empowering vortexes, this desert town flourishes from tourists anxious to visit the many mystical hot spots in hopes of experiencing a shift in awareness and connecting with the Divine. Many who have been to Sedona claim God's presence is palpable. "You can feel it," they say. I've never been to Sedona, but I suspect that like any stark, beautiful place where nature prevails, the presence of something greater than ourselves is discernable. Without the noise and rush of city life, these far-away places seem to hold some magic in earth and sky. Some altered state of livingness we rarely find in the middle of LA or midtown Manhattan. Nature is God's playground. And places in nature that hold great mystery often also hold great history. Sometimes, it's the history we feel - eons and ages of drama played out into the dust of the earth. Stonehenge sings with the song of ancient Druids. Mayan ruins whisper of a civilization milleniums ahead of its time. The Western Wall cries the tears of the despairing. Bethlehem and Galilee shine with the glory of a savior's footsteps. And who's that sitting under the Buddha tree? There are many powerful places on earth, places where maybe, just maybe, magical ley lines and grids of energy run hither and thar beneath the land. Places like the icy remote Siberian Tundra and the desolate English moors where life seems to vibrate at a Divine frequency. This would certainly explain why in some parts of lower Mozambique, you can balance a donkey on a potato chip. But do you really have to pay three grand and spend two weeks with a bunch of spiritually inept yuppies in search of the eternal flame in the belly of a rumbling volcano? Save your dollars for something more certain - like the Powerball Lottery. You can experience wonderful transformations and changes in your level of awareness in all these places. You can also feel closer to God there than you did in the noisy, crazy city. But you don't have to go halfway around the world to find what already exists in a place that's a hell of a lot closer - and cheaper. Let's ask Dorothy. Go To Page: 1 2
