What does this all mean for those of us who wish to serve others? Only that we must do so in a loving and supportive way that does not interfere with the other person's own spiritual growth and development. We can encourage them, rather than enable them; support them, rather than hold them up altogether; walk beside them when they are weak, rather than carry them; inspire them to throw off the bushel that hides their light, rather than throw it off for them (they'll just run for cover back underneath it the moment we are not around!).
By being a living example of God expressing fully, we can inspire those we come in contact with to open themselves up to that very same expression, that very same joy. Then and only then will the change be permanent, and the healing be perfect. Then and only then will they have learned to help themselves... to God. ------------
