Tuning Into The Source

© Rev. Marie Jones

We live in a world where people have become so far removed from their own Divinity, they don't realize just how close the Source of all happiness is. Like appliances on a kitchen counter, they are plugged in, but still unconnected from the very energy that would bring them all they seek, if only they would reconnect.

In practical Christianity (Unity) we learn that the Power Source of creation is God, but we cannot make use of this incredible Source unless we first tap into it. Unless we first open our inner channels to release the flow of God's energy and wisdom. Unless we first tune in our receivers to pick up the Divine Broadcast that is always being directed to us over the ethereal airwaves. Imagine God is a power strip, and each of us is an appliance that requires electricity to work. We are always plugged in to that power strip, but still, nothing happens. Why? Because even though we always have access to God, even though we are always "plugged in," we still have to turn the appliance ON to get it to work. Each morning I awaken and the first thing I do is go into the kitchen to make coffee. I scoop coffee in the filter, pour water into the receptacle, close the lid and plug in the machine, ready to smell that heady brew. But unless I first hit the "on" switch, I get no coffee. No coffee, no happy! Even though all the necessary elements are in place to make the coffee, I still won't have it until I turn the machine on.

We are like that, too. We have eternal, unlimited access to the Source, but how often do we forget to switch ourselves on to receive it? Then we wonder why life isn't going the way we want it, and why our goals and dreams are not being reached. The struggle occurs when we forget how to make the connection.

Ernest Holmes said that the Universe gives to us THROUGH us. Unless we are consciously aware of this truth, there will be no surge of God power, no divine flow of the inner Christ energy. We must provide that energy with an outlet, so to speak, to come through our consciousness.

If you think of yourself as a radio and God as the radio waves, you can understand this concept in a more visual sense. The radio waves are always there, just waiting to be tuned into. But you won't hear the sweet and nourishing music of the spheres until you do one crucial thing, turn on the radio. When someone is unaware of their own precious Divinity, it becomes not only easy for them to hurt themselves, but easy to hurt others as well. This is why criminals and those who spread hate and violence still merit our forgiveness and understanding. They are just as connected to God as the purest of saints, but they have not tuned in to that connection to receive the blessings of Spirit. They are like the living dead, plugged in but not turned on.
