Scientific Prayer Treatment, Why it Works

In metaphysical studies, we learn about the power of affirmative, or scientific prayer. This type of prayer differs from traditional prayer because it is not begging or petitioning God for favors. Rather, scientific prayer is a way of aligning ourselves with God in order to know, understand and manifest THAT WHICH ALREADY IS TRUE. We call it scientific prayer because it is PROVABLE. We also call it affirmative prayer because we AFFIRM TRUTH rather than focus on the illusions of what only our eyes can see. For example, a traditional prayer for healing a disease has the prayee asking God to "please heal me." Often, begging and bargaining occurs. "Please heal me and I will never sin again." This puts the prayee in a position of weakness, victimhood and total powerlessness.

Affirmative prayer says, "I am already healed at the true level of my being and that healing now manifests in my physical world." It is scientific because it works with the simple Universal laws of attraction, intention and seeing beyond the surface illusion to the unchanging truth of who we are below - perfect spiritual beings. Do this deeply and honestly enough and it will show up in your physical life as a positive result - the effect of a positive cause.

If you've always wondered why many of your prayers don't come true, perhaps you are praying wrong. When you beg God to heal this, cure that, do this other thing, you are playing the victim rather than the co-creator of your life. In metaphysics, we learn that we are co-creators with God, and that by aligning ourselves with Universal spiritual principles, we are able to change our lives by our intentions, thoughts and affirmations.

Scientific, or affirmative, prayer differs slightly from one metaphysical tradition to the next; in Religious Science there are five steps, in Unity those steps are a little different, and in Spiritual Science there are only four steps, but basically an affirmative prayer consists of the following:

Step One: Recognition - Here we get quiet in meditation and recognize that there is one true power in the Universe, God. We let that recognition fill our consciousness with light and love. Once we feel this presence within and all around us, we move on to step two.

Step Two: Unification - Here we let ourselves feel our unification with God, the one power in the Universe. We let go of the stressors of everyday life and connect with that Greater power, letting it fill our consciousness. We let the truth that we are one with God, that we are unified with our Divine Creator, fill our minds so that we can pray from that place of powerful, co-creative energy.
