A PROSPERITY PARABLE

TO THEM THAT HAVE, MORE SHALL BE GIVEN. TO THEM THAT HAVE NOT, EVEN WHAT THEY HAVE SHALL BE TAKEN AWAY. Matthew 25:29

Sounds like some pretty unfair and unjust words, but upon closer inspection of this teaching of Jesus, I discovered a secret to prosperity and everlasting abundance that I had missed before.

It begins with a look at the Parable of the Talents in Matthew 25:15. Jesus tells the story of three servants who are called to their Master's side. Their master gives each of them "according to his ability" (Mt. 25:15) giving the first servant five talents, the second servant got two talents and the third got one talent. Now the first two servants took their talents and used them, increasing their amount. But the third servant was so afraid of losing the one and only talent he had been given, he buried it in the ground for safe-keeping. In the end, he lost even that one single talent because his Master was angry and disapproving that the servant had not made use of the talent given him.

What Jesus teaches us here in this wonderful parable is that to those who have faith in their own talent, abilities and gifts, more good shall be given them. But to those who have no faith and make no use of their gifts, even what little they have shall be taken away.

Once we realize that we hold within us the key to abundant good, in the form of our God-given gifts, talents, abilities and characteristics, we understand that true success and prosperity comes to us WHEN WE MAKE USE OF THEM.

We must use what we have in order to INCREASE what we have. By refusing out of fear to take risks and use our talents, we end up snuffing them out completely, and are even more "poor" than we were before. If you long to be more successful and prosperous in your life, ask yourself a good, hard question. AM I USING MY GIFTS TO THE BEST OF MY ABILITY? If you re unhappy in life, it is often because you are not giving of yourself into life, and therefore getting little back in return.

"Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit:...but it is the same God who activates all of them in everyone" says Paul in 1 Corinthians 12:4-6. Instead of looking outside of ourselves for the blessings we desire, perhaps we should be redirecting our vision inward, where the true gifts reside. Pray to understand what it is within you that God wants you to use to increase your prosperous good and you will get the answer.
