The True Source of Prosperity

© Rev. Marie Jones

"Money makes the world go around, the world go around, the world go around!"

Remember that song? How about the Beatles' song, "Money, That's What I Want?" Or the O'Jays "For the Love of Money?" A line from that song states that "people will lie, steal or cheat, people don't care who they hurt or beat, for the mean, mean green."

We are a society obsessed by the love of, the pursuit of, and the hoarding of money. It is without a doubt the number one problem facing most people today. Lack of money, that is. But is it really the lack of small, rectangular green and beige pieces of cheap paper that destroys more lives, more marriages, more dreams, that prompts more war and violent crime, that drives people to suicide? Or is it lack of knowing where money really comes from?

You see, money really isn't the issue. Because money really isn't the source of the supply we seek. What we are looking for is the real SOURCE, the God behind the Gold, the Divine behind the Diamonds, the Consciousness behind the Cash. The Big Bank.

True, lasting prosperity can only be achieved and sustained by reliance upon the one true Source and that is NOT any one person, job, career opportunity or investment. Those are simply some of the many channels through which the Source provides us with supply. But they are not the Source itself.

The real Source, the true Federal Reserve, is within us; it is the place of power we refer to as God, the All, the Everything. Ernest Holmes, founder of Science of Mind, states, "Prosperity is the outpicturing of substance in our affairs." Divine Science minister Joseph Murphy adds, "God dwells in man, and this means the treasure house of infinite riches is within you, all around you." And from the wonderful and foremost prosperity writer of our times, Catherine Ponder, I offer these wise words:

"God is the source of supply, substance is the body of God and has been given us for our unlimited good. Thought is the master of substance, and by deliberately directing thoughts towards prosperity, we move the rich substance of the Universe to produce prosperous results."

Now that doesn't mean you just sit there and wish your way rich. You still have to do the footwork and get your talents and gifts out into the world, but by keeping your consciousness focused on what you WANT, which is prosperity, and not on what you don't want, which is poverty, you naturally attract to you that which you focus on. People, opportunities, ideas come into your life when you are open and grateful and "thinking big." When you think small, you feel small, so why would ANYBODY want to come anywhere near you??? Just think about the times you felt so "on" and tuned into life, and how great things just seemed to be attracted to you like a magnet. Then think about the times you felt tight, angry, closed up, anxious, and how it seemed as though the "flow" of good was cut off and blocked at every channel.

What a great message to keep in mind, especially with all the stuff we are hearing on the "outside" about a falling economy and lay-offs and recessions. It is good to remember our wealth really comes ...
