Interestingly enough, just by praying in this way, your life can become the life you have always imagined. You don't even need to state any particular request. However, for our own benefit, sometimes it helps to make our requests known. Here's a simple, and powerful, way to do just that:
Always make your request in the positive and in the present tense. As mentioned earlier, begin to "act as if" your request has already been fulfilled. Example: I am looking for a new job. Instead of asking, Spirit, please send me a new job, I first pray in the way of the Five Stages. Then, I make my request in the form of an affirmation. "I have a wonderful new job that (provide description here)...and it serves me and all concerned in the best way possible. I love the job. It fulfills all of my financial, professional, social, and personal needs. I am grateful." Then release the request. Hold the picture of the right job in your mind as often as you think of it, but don't keep asking. Simply see it as already in place. Let the prayer go, knowing that Divine Right Action is now working in your behalf. Trust the process. (Trust is earned. You may have trouble trusting at first, but keep at it. Eventually, you will trust as you see the Universe working its incredible magic in your life.) With enough practice, your Affirmative Prayers will become simpler, and more powerful. You will find your life changing in beneficial ways you never dreamed were possible. All of the great religious traditions have variations on this process. Ultimately, it comes down, again, to the Law: What you put forth returns to you, multiplied. Jesus said that "when you pray, believe you have what you ask for, and it's yours." That's a pretty good authority, don't you agree? Next month in Part II, examples and experiences of Affirmative Prayer in Action. Don't miss it! .
