The Way...

Let me start the process by sharing with you a passage from a wonderful workbook called "You Are The One: Living Fully, Living Free Through Affirmative Prayer" by Mary M. Jaeger and Kathleen Juline (1988 Science of Mind Publications):

Affirmative prayer involves a deep understanding that the good of God is everywhere present and is the truth right now about a specific situation. This understanding, which affirms that a desired good already is, replaces any prior belief in lack or limitation and establishes a new, more positive belief in the mind of the person praying. This new belief then takes outer form through the activity of the Universal Law of Mind.

They continue: Experience has shown that one of the most effective ways to understand and use affirmative prayer is to separate it into five stages: recognition, unification, realization, thanksgiving, and release. The purpose of doing so is not to set up a rigid formula but rather, to provide a framework for the clear, constructive acceptance of a desired good.

That framework forms the basis and substance of this process. In this article, I will share with you the meaning of the framework, and in the January article, I will share examples of affirmative prayers and accompanying affirmations.

Recognition

I begin by recognizing that there is but One Power, One Presence, and One Life, and that Life is my life now. (A house divided against itself cannot stand.)

Unification

In that Life, I live and move and have my being. I am not now, nor have I ever been, separated from the One Life. I am Spirit Expressing. (Jesus queried, "Know ye not that ye are gods?")

Realization

I realize the Presence that lives in and through me expresses through All That Is, that I am one with everything. As I speak my word, it is made manifest through the power of Love. What I give out, returns to me, "full measure, pressed down, and running over."

Thanksgiving

I am grateful for everything in my life, even the apparent negative situations, people, and personal failures. I know that everything ultimately works together for good. (". . .for the kingdom of heaven is within you." Jesus)

Release

I speak my word, knowing that it never returns to me void. I release this prayer into the Law of Mind, knowing that it is now fulfilled and comes to pass in the best way possible for all concerned. This, or something better, manifests now. (In the beginning was the word. . .)

Richard,

This is a very powerful article (and idea). I look forward to reading your next article that includes examples of affirmative prayer. I also look forward to personally giving it a try.
