Sin--God's Greatest Gift (What??)Choice adds flavor, excitement, variety to life. Heaven, the way it's been described, sounds like a true bore. We need conflict. It gives us purpose. Overcoming conflict, difficulty, bad habit, SIN, is true growth. Sin, then, becomes the tool God used to get us moving, to get us stretching. Yes, it led to a lot of ghastly stuff-still does. But what choice did God have? If he hadn't given us the opportunity to sin, and to make it as easy and as simple as possible, we'd be nothing more than pets. God didn't want pets. He had enough of those in the lions, tigers, and bears. He wanted companionship. The only way that could happen is by giving the Couple choice. And that meant giving the Couple sin. Lucifer was more than likely sent to earth, not cast down to earth. He was on a holy mission. And keep in mind, the eating of the fruit wasn't the original sin; disobedience was. The only way to disobey is to have options. Choices. In this case, life-altering choices. It meant the difference between being forever the only humans on the planet, and creating an entire world of human beings. They made the best, and the right, choice. After all is said and done, sin, not love, is God's greatest gift. He trusted us to use it well, and we have. To be trusted is far more complimentary than to be loved. Paradoxically, only Unconditional Love could grant such a powerful and controversial gift. God knew what he was doing. Can you trust that? (Just to be clear, I see all of the above as allegory. It represents the evolution from primitive mind to conscious mind. Remember: the universe is made of stories, not atoms. And this is a good way, if you can approach it with an open mind, to tell the story of our evolution. Just don't take it all too literally.)
