How to Help Heaven Happen. . .Right Now - Page 2

Finally, forgiveness is liberating. When we hold onto bitterness and resentment, we are, in effect, still connected to the one(s) who offended us. There is a psychological umbilical cord that continues to link us together. That cord must be severed consciously in order to move on with our lives. Why do we often (more often than not) choose to keep that link in place rather than break it? Because, and I'm speculating here so take it or leave it, we hold unforgiveness toward ourselves. It's a strange psychological--and spiritual--twist, but as we forgive ourselves, the stranglehold of unforgiveness toward others begins to loosen its grip.

Begin the process of self-forgiveness now. You don't need another moment of needless suffering. And neither do those around you.

Focus and forgiveness. With this practice, heaven is already here. Remember: pain in life is inevitable; suffering is optional.
