A Dandelion in Winter - a story about Ruth Ethel Clement Farr by Esther Amelia Titcomb is not so easily found. It's no longer in print and is only available in a few New Hampshire libraries. It's worth the hunt. Titcomb hooks the reader from the first sentence, "Who the hell cares who Ruth Ethel was?" In the process of answering the question, Titcomb makes the reader care. This wonderful little book tells the story of a woman who wanted to do something for her town of Deering, New Hampshire. Ruth Ethel was an ordinary person and an extraordinary person.
