We know better. " Margolis thinks innocence evaporated in 1964. He writes, "If the tumult did not start in 1964, it blossomed then." His new book, The Last Innocent Year: America in 1964 {The Beginning of the 'Sixties' (Picador, $25) takes the reader on a nostalgic trip to times that Margolis demonstrates had much to do with who we are today. This is good reading, especially if you're old enough to have been around in 1964.
