Via the marvelous Restaurant Spago in Beverly Hills, California the Nominees to be honored at this years 17th annual Soul Train Music Awards were revealed. Hip-Hop's own Pimp Juice better known as Nelly shares the lead number of nominations with Neo-Soul Extraordinaire Musiq, Epic Recording Group B2k, Amerie, Murder Inc.'s Ashanti, Heart-throb Justin Timberlake, and Soulsters Floetry.

Now, I know EXACTLY what you're thinking. Every time you watch one of these award shows and the artist that you predict to win doesn't, you ask yourself, " Who the heck determines the winner?" Or sometimes " They have completely lost their minds! There is NO way so-and-so should have won over so-and-so." I know, I know, but, The Soul Train Music Awards panel of judges are composed of professionals in Retail Sales and Management, Radio Programming professionals and also recording artists who had an album reach a successful level in at least two music trade pub charts. So..there you have it!

If you are an avid follower of the Soul Train Awards you know that there is the prestigious Quincy Jones Award for Outstanding Career Achievements. The Female recognition goes to music industry veteran Dionne Warwick, Aunt of Mrs. Whitney Houston. She co-hosted the Soul Train Awards in 1987 when it first began! Not to mention the musical influence she has demonstrated in her extensive career. If anyone deserves the recognition it would have to be Dionne. The Male receiving the Quincy Jones Award for Outstanding Career Achievements goes to the incomparable LL Cool J born as James Todd Smith. LL is currently starring in his first lead role in the movie Deliver Us From Eva.

The equally prestigious Sammy Davis Junior Award for Entertainer of the Year goes to SUPERSTAR NELLY! The 17th Annual Soul Train Music Awards will be broadcasted live on March 1, 2003 in Pasadena, California from the Pasadena Civic Auditorium.
