D'Angelo keeps it smooth, mellow, and comin' strong with raw vocals, Electric Guitars, and Contagious Bass Guitars productions. The lyrical content of this album is sexually charged. Both the lyrical content and trumpet flares compliment tracks in an obvious hand to glove format. D'Angelo's tendency to talk dirty ( in the most sensual of ways) entices the most timid of lovers into a lil' S&M. He'll convince you that "pullin' your hair and smackin' you there " is how the ordeal is supposed to be; and without it you are seriously deprived. He "Feels Like Makin'Love." The trumpet flares ushers this delicious track in to stardom like twenty-two inch chrome rims on a Cadillac Escalade. It wouldn't roll quite the same any other way. Then , just when you thought you have had a thorough dose of D'Angelo.. .just when you thought you have sampled from every sound he has offered...just when you thought D'Angelo has pushed the envelope to it's limit, he breaks the mold with the sexually charged anthem "Untitled (How Does It Feel)" WOW---every so called playa will add this tender morsel of a track to their personal entrees of love. "Untitled ( How Does It Feel)" fosters the idea that it is acceptable for a man to have the desire to be mature and to "wanna stop the silly little games you and me play." It also lends the "O.K" for men not to indulge so heavily in the world of "Game and Playerism" with sentiments like " I just wanna be your man." This is for the lovers only. Wanna get'cha dance on? Step out onto eccentric, upbeat tracks like "Spanish Joint" and "Chicken Grease." Need inspiration? "Greatdayndmornin" has a trance like swing. The vocals make you reminiscent of Gospel and it is not overshadowed nor does it get lost in the mix of tracks on Voodoo. It holds it's own. GUARANTEED. D'Angelo closes the Kaleidoscope. He ends the funky, gospel inspired, eccentric experience with a track entitled " Africa." You're on your own to discover the buzz on this track. It's a worthy incentive to get Voodoo. Do yourself a favor. Add Voodoo to your personal repertoire. There is nothing like a little magic every once in a while. Voodoo is just that.
