Luther Vandross, or just plain Luther needs no introduction. You know his reputation well. No matter if you're young or old. You loved him and his musical genius brought out the lover in you and will for others years to come. New York native Luther Ronzoni Vandross passed away on July 1, 2005 in a Edison, New Jersey Hospital due to complications from a debilitating stroke he suffered 2 years ago. People more than saw fit to send him off well. People gathered for miles into Harlem underneathth and beyond the legendary Apollo Theatre's marquee with Luther's name on it, to show respect for the fallen prince of soul. The rain only served as background percussion to the groups singing Vandross' hit 'The Power of Love' in his honor. 2400 people came from miles and miles away to be apart of the ceremonies. Both fans and celebrities alike were deeply moved to express what an outstanding Singer/Songwriter and human being Luther was. Stevie Wonder, Usher, Patti LaBelle, and Aretha Franklin, just to name a few, sang song in tribute to the 54 year old star.

With over 25 million records sold and hits like 'A House is not a Home', 'The Power of Love','Here and Now' and 'Dance with My Father' I would stand corrected if one was to say that "star" is an understatement. But,how does one describe the greatness of his presence and gift? How do you allude to the grandeur or quantify the love. Everyone who knew Luther personally or knew of Luther realized that he was exceptional. He was extremely loving. He was among the best. The silky tenor, the perfection in the delivery, the endless crescendos that leaves you with chills goosebumpsumps, all indicate true giftedness. All good things must eventually end. In this regard neither of us is any different. But the legend that is Luther Vandross will forever live. His contribution to music and life will forever be recognized. There are millions more children that are destined to be conceived from the sensual ballads left for us by Luther. Many a couple will have their breakup to make up thanks to the words of Luther Vandross. It's not over.

Luther joins the presence of Marvin, Miles, Billie, Nina and more. If they are somewhere doing anything close to what they gave us here then I can't wait to get there..for the encore.

Let's not say goodbye. Let's get ready for the encore.
