The instrumentals are kept simple enough that Legend's voice is center stage and that makes all the difference. There are no cover ups or studio manipulation in terms of vocals. At times his less than perfectly executed runs douses the album with grit and character.His singing comes across natural and moving. The delivery is pure and heartfelt. Not forced at all. His voice leads you to another place. It touches you right everytime.
So, who's turning John Legend on? I certainly am. So should you. Over and over again.
