Kansas State 35, Texas 17 -- Six turnovers by the Longhorns led to 26 points for the Wildcats, and David Allen scored on a punt return and a touchdown run to seal the K-State victory. The punt return was the seventh of Allen's career, tying the NCAA Division I-A record shared by Oklahoma's Jack Mitchell (1946-48) and Nebraska's Johnny Rodgers (1970-72).
Texas Tech 21, Texas A&M 19 -- In 1995, the Red Raiders beat the No. 8 Aggies, 14-7. In 1997, the 20th-ranked team from A&M was upset 16-13 by Tech. Lightning struck again in '99, even without star running back Ricky Williams. Sammy Morris carried the ball 33 times for 170 yards and a touchdown. Trailing 10-0, the Red Raiders struck for three quick first-half touchdowns and led 21-10 at the break. A&M came back and, trailing by a pair with less than two minutes remaining, drove deep into Tech territory. But Antwan Alexander intercepted a Randy McCown pass at the Tech 20-yard line with 74 seconds left, and the same team that lost to North Texas last week had knocked off the sixth ranked team in the country.
