When it comes to predicting anything, its always a crap shoot. But even more so when it comes to good ol' college football. The sport is so wild and unpredictable its hard to get a feel for who's hot and who's not.

Florida could be the football hotspot this year. FSU always seems to be loaded, but they've been hit by some tough injuries. Plus QB Chris Weinke still hasn't fully recovered from is neck injury, and hasn't been participating in spring drills. If he's healthy, the Seminoles could be the top team this year. Keep an eye on Florida and Miami as well, as both schools look to field talented squads in '99.

There may be some surprising teams in the hunt this year. LSU was a disappointment last season, going 4-7 with one of the country's most talented teams. This spring, the coaching staff has reportedly picked up the intensity in drills. They could stun a lot of people this year. Georgia coach Jim Donnan has moved some quick LBs to the defensive line, so expect the Bulldog defense to be among the fastest in the country. Michigan, NC State, Notre Dame, and Texas have also caught my eye this spring.

Well, that about wraps it up for now. Got something on your mind? Have a question you'd like to ask? Then e-mail me at sports@bednar.com or start a discussion below.
