GRID GUESSERS UPDATE - Ladies and gentlemen, No. 1 has fallen! No, I'm not talking about Ohio State. I'm refering to Grid Guesser Jeff Frankeny, who had led the contest from the beginning. Until this weekend, that is.

Frankeny posted a 3-2 record this week to go to 26-13 (.667) on the year, but that wasn't enough to keep Eric Nichols from passing him following a perfect 5-0 weekend. With a minimum of 29 games needed to qualify, Nichols takes over first place with a 27-12 record (.692). He is followed by Frankeny in second, Brian Anthony (20-11, .645) in third, Kim Johnson (18-11, .620) in fourth and Shawn Taylor (23-16, .590) in fifth.

Your fearless prognosticator might not be so fearless after posting his second consecutive losing record this week. After going 2-3, my season record currently stands at 23-16 (.590). Due to the an early deadline caused by the new version of Suite 101 that will debut on Nov. 3, there will not be any Grid Guessers contest picks this weekend. The contest will resume as usual the following week.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK - LSU running back Kevin Faulk, who broke out of a three-game slump with 123 yards on 24 carries and scored three TDs in a 41-6 victory over No. 25 Mississippi State. Faulk also became LSU's career rushing leader and his 208 all-purpose yards gave him 6,087 for his career, making him the 11th player in NCAA history to reach 6,000.
