"We just wanted to show everyone in the nation that Nebraska is back," cornerback Ralph Brown said. "We've been the most consistent college in the country when it comes to winning, but I think people forget about us."

IN OTHER ACTION - Fourth-ranked Tennessee rolled over Houston 42-7. No. 5 Kansas State dominated as well, downing NE Lousiana 62-7. Wildcats quarterback Michael Bishop threw for 441 yards and four touchdowns in that game. Kevin Faulk set a school record with 268 all-purpose yards and scored four touchdowns No. 6 LSU's 53-20 win over Idaho. Florida's Doug Johnson threw for five touchdowns and 270 yards as the eighth-ranked Gators rebounded to down Kentucky and Tim Couch, 51-35. No. 10 Florida State downed No. 18 USC 30-10. Eleventh-ranked Virginia rolled 24-0 over Duke. No. 14 Wisconsin won huge over Big Ten rival Northwestern, 38-7, and No. 15 Colorado held on to down Baylor 18-16.

No. 16 Arizona, No. 17 Texas A&M, No. 19 West Virginia, No. 20 Oregon, No. 21 Virginia Tech and No. 23 Notre Dame all won this past weekend, while No. 22 Alabama and No. 23 Air Force were both upset victims. Arkansas rolled over the Tide 42-6 while Air Force was grounded by TCU 35-34. No. 3 UCLA was scheduled to play Miami, but that game was postponed due to Hurricane Gorges. No. 1 Ohio State, No. 7 Penn State, No. 12 Syracuse, No. 13 Georgia, and No. 25 Missouri were idle this weekend.

Congratulations also have to go out to Prairie View A&M, who captured their first win in nine years this weekend. The Panthers snapped their 80-game losing streak on Saturday, stopping a two-point conversion in the final minute for a 14-12 victory over Langston. The victory was Prairie View first since an Oct. 28, 1989 win over Mississippi Valley 21-12.

"It was well overdue," Panthers coach Greg Johnson told the AP after the game. "There wasn't any doubt in my mind what we could do. We just had to believe and come through in the stretch."

GRID GUESSERS UPDATE - Thanks to a Notre Dame comeback, your fearless prognosticator dodged losses in the Nebraska-Washington and Michigan-Michigan State to barely post a winning mark this week. After a 3-2 weekend, my record now stands at 15-9.
