The Top Ten Players in College Hoopshas to get used to the point guard position. With good size, he is a smooth player who can create his own shot as well as anybody. His awareness and instincts are amazing, and his ball handling has few peers. Although his perimeter game is average, it is improving, and his game is still maturing. His greatest asset, however, is his defensive play. His defensive awareness, quickness, and abilities are second to none. As Williams adds more tools to his already dangerous offensive arsenal, he will be the player to watch in the Big Ten. 2. Juan Dixon, Maryland – Returning for his senior year, Juan Dixon is an absolute marvel to watch. An All-ACC player for two seasons in a row, Dixon truly set himself apart last season on a team that already had Terence Morris, Lonny Baxter, and Steve Blake. He is the best shooter in the nation, and has displayed that unbelievable range on many clutch occasions. As a senior, he should be even better as his competition gets a lot less tough. With Baxter returning, this dominant duo could lead the Terps to a national championship a year after the school’s first Final Four. Dixon is a very exciting player to watch, and though he may be a bit undersized for the next level, he is head and shoulders above every other shooting guard in college basketball today. 1. Now that Shane Battier is gone, Williams takes on an even more important role. Even though he has plenty of weapons at his disposal in Boozer, Chris Duhon, and Mike Dunleavy, Williams is the man for the Blue Devils. He has that sweet 3, the unmatched quickness and speed, the great moves, the excellent defense, and the great court vision and passing. And he’s back for his junior year. The rest of the nation cringes. Duke is the favorite yet again. And what about Tayshawn Prince, you ask? Sure, there’s Troy Bell, Brian Cook, Jared Jefferies, Lonny Baxter, Steve Logan, Udonis Haslem, and Preston Shumpert. Where are they? Well, with ten guys, I can’t put everybody. Because of the huge depletion of talent over the last few years, it’s sometimes tough to rank guys based on skill
