Wow! Basketball Players Really Are TallHere's what the filmmakers did. They followed Jordan around during the Bull's final playoff run before his retirement. But it's two years later now. We all know what happened. The Bulls beat the Jazz and Jordan hit the final shot to win his sixth championship. Great stuff, sure, but old news. So they cut in bits of fluff consisting of interviews, pictures, and old footage that really acts as filler. Unfortunately, Jordan's hilights have been played so much that there's really nothing that the audience hasn't seen. Even the interviews (and I use that term loosely) with such sports celebrities as Bob Costas, Doug Collins and Phil Jackson provided us with zero information. They were so sugar coated that I was worried for the health of any diabetics in the crowd. I guess I was hoping for something with a little more depth. Some behind the scenes action that would give us some insight into a very driven, competitive man. Everything was so scripted that it felt like it was an infomercial on late night television. You know the kind. You laugh, but find yourself calling that damn 1-800 number anyways because you're just not sure if you can pour acid on your car without it wrecking the paint. Well that's how I viewed the movie. It was cheesy and obvious, but I walked away completely buying into Jordan's painstakingly crafted public image. There was one cool thing though. That was the Matrix style free throw line dunk that was shown in the trailers. I must say that it looked very cool on the giant screen. Thumbs up on that.
