Well, it's happened. It's Thursday night and for the first time in a while there is no playoff basketball on television. What am I going to do? I might have to read a book or go outside or something. Yikes. I know - I'll watch the sports ticker and cry myself to sleep.
The Lakers and Blazers square off on Saturday having wrapped up their respective series. It's what everybody has been waiting for and should give us the NBA champion. The Pacers and Sixers go again on Friday as does the dogfight that is the Knicks - Heat series. I must say that though their games are often low scoring and defensive minded, they are never boring. I've seen them both play other teams in complete yawners, but for some reason the Knicks and the Heat play each other well. It's not hard to see why as they are essentially the same team. From the similar style coaching to the centers who are friends in the off season, on paper they are practically identical. You don't need to see this movie. Seriously. Other than the fact that it was on a really big ass screen, the movie makers offered us nothing new. Imagine watching a forty five minute Nike commercial and you've pretty much got the gist of it. I'm not kidding when I say that because that was actually part of the movie. Little bits of old commercials were edited in and for what purpose? To sell us more stuff, of course. Because we are consumers first and foremost and don't you forget it. Nike must have flipped when they heard the idea. You mean we get another chance to suck the money out of people's wallets? And our logo is going to be three stories tall? Where do we sign...
