The playoffs are coming, the playoffs are coming!

Welcome to the NBA page on Suite 101. As the contributing editor for NBA basketball, I will comment on the NBA in general, players, coaches, games, media etc... Basically whatever the world of professional b-ball has to offer.

I thought I would let you know where my loyalties lie. I'll watch any two teams play because basically I just want to see a good game. I follow the Vancouver Grizzlies because I live there. You really got to love 'em. They try so hard (most of the time). All the fans really wanted here was to be better than our Canadian rivals, the Toronto Raptors. Oh well, there's always next year. I used to be a huge Sonics fan, but my devotion has waned since the Shawn Kemp, George Karl era. Other teams I like to watch include the Sixers, Knicks, Trailblazers, and Kings. How cool would a Sixers-Kings final be? Could've happened last year.

For all you basketball fanatics out there this is time of year to celebrate. Now is when it gets interesting. The teams are jockeying for playoff position and the games mean just a little bit more. Of course on the flip side there's the bottom feeders who are playing for pride and next year's contract. In that category you can place the Grizzlies. They're so beaten and battered at this point, you could serve them as a dinner from Captain Highliner.

NBC will soon offer its double-header Saturday and triple-header Sunday extravaganzas. Or what I like to refer to as a two day IV drip of roundball that allows junkies like myself to park their butt on the couch, sit back, and stare at the boob tube. I'll do it too. I won't even feel guilty. Well, maybe a little bit, but I'm willing to sacrifice for the job. Because as contributing editor it is my responsibility, no duty, to watch every game imaginable, providing you, the reader, with the best possible coverage of the playoffs. No, it's okay, you don't have to thank me. That's just the kind of guy I am. Do you get the feeling that I probably did the same thing last year, and the year before that, even though I wasn't writing for Suite 101? Well, you're right. Now, I'm able to rationalize the whole thing as research. Yeah, research, that's just crazy enough to work. So when I have to surgically remove a couch cushion from my ass, I won't feel so bad.
