Their Mysterious Ways--A Book Review
In "Wings of Comfort" by Anne Watkins, former Editor of Companion Birds, writes about a dark day in her life, when she sat on her porch, staring out across some rain-drenched fields. A few days earlier, a car accident had taken the life of someone she cared about, and the week long rain made her soul feel as dreary and gray as the weeping sky. Then an amazing thing happened. A lovely black butterfly, with powder blue and orange markings appeared mysteriously, and stayed with her until dark, diverting her attention and soothing her heartache. Lovely wings of comfort had lifted her bruised and battered spirit. Of course, I cannot do justice in this short review, to Anne's beautiful story, but those of us who have also had our souls uplifted by God's beautiful creatures, will agree that animals, do indeed, have "their mysterious ways." Anne has another beautiful story in the book as well. Other stories I really loved include "A Miracle Named Munchie" by Thirza Peevey about a little Welsh Pony who performs a miracle, and R. D. Larson's "Mallard Fever." Actually, I loved all the stories, for they really are exceptional, and I feel fortunate to have a few of my own stories included as well. "Their Mysterious Ways," is an amazing collection of true stories. Image of book jacket used by permission from Phyllis Hobe.
