Conventional, obvious symptoms of pregnancy - nausea, swollen breasts, etc. - may not show up until several weeks or months along.
However, some women may experience subtle symptoms that are never mentioned in books that let them know, early on, that they may be pregnant. The signs and symptoms of pregnancy, conventional or unusual, will be different for every woman and every pregnancy. Unconventional Signs: Getting Emotional, Constipation, Dizziness For some women, constipation is a very early sign of pregnancy. The digestive tract slows considerably to allow the body to extract all the available nutrients, and this results in constipation. If a woman is not used to drinking large amounts of water, this can be a real problem early on. Another trouble might be gas (both burping and otherwise), again from the slowed digestion. These early signs of pregnancy are often not noticed. Fatigue may not hit a woman until later in the pregnancy, light-headedness or dizziness can occur right away.
