Concerns over the Safety of Waterbirth
These are some of the main concerns that surround waterbirth. The benefits of using water during labour and delivery are so profound that many hospitals now offer it to women during the later stages of labour. Entering the water at too early a stage (i.e. before the cervix has dilated to 5 cm) could slow labour and cause it to stop. This is due to the extreme relaxing effect of the water.
